Complete Roof Replacement Project

A full roof replacement is a bigger undertaking than most homeowners expect, and understanding the process helps set realistic expectations for timescale and disruption.

The work starts with a full strip-out of the existing covering, battens, and underlay, exposing the timber deck underneath. This is often the point where hidden problems, such as rot or historic water damage, come to light, and it's worth budgeting some contingency for this possibility.

Once the deck is confirmed sound, new underlay and battens go down, followed by the chosen tile or slate covering, with attention paid to valleys, hips, and ridge detailing. A completed replacement should come with documentation covering the materials used and the work carried out.
